The Jeddah Institute for Speech and Hearing (JISH) successfully concluded its 24th Annual Symposium on Communication Disorders, held on October 31 – November 1, 2025, at its facility in Jeddah. The two-day event brought together speech-language pathologists, audiologists, students, and hearing health professionals from across the Kingdom and beyond.

The symposium offered two parallel tracks — Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Audiology — providing participants with rich, evidence-based, and practical content focused on clinical applications and interactive learning.

Key Highlights

• The SLP Track, led by Jennie Bjorem (MA, CCC-SLP) and Lauren Kline (MS, CCC-SLP), featured comprehensive workshops on Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and integrating literacy into speech therapy. Attendees benefited from hands-on training, case studies, and interactive activities designed to enhance diagnostic and therapy skills.
• The Audiology Track, presented by leading experts including Dr. Hanin Rayes, Dr. Marielle Siy, Prof. Ahmed Khater, and Dr. Ibrahim Almufarrij, covered audiological assessment, hearing aid technology, earmold fabrication, and case-based rehabilitation. Participants also engaged in laboratory demonstrations and clinical simulations.

Accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the symposium provided attendees with continuing education credits. The event reinforced JISH’s commitment to advancing clinical education, empowering communication specialists, and promoting inclusive, evidence-based practices.
